MON (monad)Project Analysis Report
Published on: 2025/11/24 11:43Last Update: 2025/11/24 11:43

1. Project Introduction :

Monad, a Layer 1 blockchain fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, was founded in 2022 by a team of former Jump Trading engineers. It aims to address the scalability bottlenecks of existing networks like Ethereum while maintaining decentralization and security. The project achieves this by redesigning the EVM architecture and introducing multiple innovative technologies, including optimistic parallel execution, an asynchronous execution framework, the MonadBFT consensus mechanism, and MonadDB, a database optimized for SSDs. Together, these enable a high throughput of around 10,000 TPS, while keeping validator hardware requirements at a consumer-level configuration of approximately $1,500.

2. Project Review & Reasons for Attention:

1. Narrative: Monad's goal is 10,000 TPS, sub-second finality, and 100% EVM compatibility; performance is benchmarked against Solana, while allowing Ethereum applications to migrate with almost zero modifications — the combination of 'high performance + compatibility' occupies the narrative high ground, suitable for high-frequency trading/complex DeFi.

2. Product: Testnet trading data has already exceeded 1 billion, with daily testnet transactions of 1 million and 167,000 daily active users. The network is supported by 174 validators across 25 countries, and over 300 projects have already deployed in the ecosystem.

3. Market Attention: It is both the first token issued on Coinbase's new public offering platform and regarded as a 'high-performance version of Ethereum'.

3. Token Function:

1. Gas: Fees for network transactions and contract execution;
2. Staking: Validators/delegators stake to earn network rewards;
3. Governance: Community and protocol upgrade voting.

4. Token economic mechanism:

The initial total supply of MON tokens is fixed at 100 billion, adopting a dynamic supply mechanism that generates inflation through block rewards and deflation through fee burning. The specific allocation is as follows:

Ecosystem Development: 38.5 billion (38.5%), unlocked at the Token Generation Event (TGE), managed by the Monad Foundation, used for project funding and validator delegation.

Team: 27 billion (27%), locked;

Investors: 19.7 billion (19.7%), locked;

Public Sale: 7.5 billion (7.5%), unlocked at TGE;

Category Labs Treasury: 3.95 billion (3.95%), locked;

Airdrop: 3.3 billion (3.3%), unlocked at TGE.

The release schedule for locked tokens reflects long-term commitment: tokens for the team, investors, and treasury are fully locked during the first year after TGE, then linearly unlocked over the following 3 years (a total of 4 years, fully unlocked by Q4 2029).

5. Financing Situation:

Monad has completed two major rounds of financing, totaling more than $240 million. The first round was a $19 million seed round led by Dragonfly Capital in February 2023, with participation from Placeholder Capital and Paradigm. The second round was a massive $225 million financing led by Paradigm in April 2024, attracting investment from dozens of institutions including Coinbase Ventures and Electric Capital.

6. Future Prospects:

Although the testnet has performed excellently, whether the mainnet can maintain high performance and stability in a real and complex environment remains to be verified. The competition in the high-performance public chain sector is currently intense. Monad needs to attract influential applications and build a thriving ecosystem in order to achieve breakthroughs in total value locked (TVL) and user scale. In addition, although the token lock-up mechanisms for the team and investors are strict, in the long term, the large total token supply and linear release may still exert potential pressure on the secondary market. Overall, Monad has become a focal point in the new wave of public chain competition thanks to its team, technology, and capital. In the short term, its value depends on the performance realization of the mainnet; in the long term, it relies on the success of ecosystem development. If success is achieved in both aspects, Monad is expected to become a leader in the 'high-performance EVM' sector, engaging in strong competition with public chains like Solana.
