Elixir is a modular decentralized liquidity network designed to provide deep liquidity, tight bid-ask spreads, and higher volumes to decentralized order book exchanges (DEXs) through a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism. Elixir's core functionality is to allow users to provide liquidity directly to order book pairs, earning market maker rewards, while algorithmic market mechanisms to enable liquidity support across centralized exchanges (CEX) and decentralized exchanges (DEX). $ELX is native to the Elixir ecosystem and serves the following key functions:
Governance: $ELX holders can participate in network governance by staking, proposing and voting on the future direction of the protocol, ensuring decentralized control.
Consensus mechanism: In a DPoS system, validators and nodes pledge a certain amount of $ELX to participate in transaction validation and network security maintenance. This mechanism ensures honest behavior of verifiers through crypto-economic incentives.
Network Security: The need to pledge $ELX enhances the security of the network, prevents malicious behavior, and provides incentives for verifiers.
